Enterprise servers and blades are designed for specific business-critical applications and deliver the ultimate in scalability, power, throughput, and other advancements. High-end or enterprise servers feature very fast transaction processing, rich data warehousing, and significant e-commerce and Web transaction capabilities. High availability is critical in these applications, which is typically achieved with error correction coding (ECC) and chipkill on the memory subsystem. Benchmark studies have proven that server performance improves significantly with increased memory content. For example, by doubling memory in a Web server application, a client can cut response time in half. Likewise, the number of operations performed per second improves significantly with increased memory.
